A couple of weeks ago I “attempted” my own family photos. I was going to have Denise of Rising Sun Memories do them but the weather was so unpredictable that I just decided to do it myself. It was finally a decent day and we hurry and got ready headed out to a spot I like. By the time we got out there the wind had picked up quite a bit and it started getting chilly. The kids did pretty good. Kayli was scared of the loud noises in the building we were standing in front of, so I didn’t get a decent shot of her. The pictures are a not as sharp as I would like, but that’s what you get when you use a remote trigger and have wind I am happy with them and will always cherish them even through all the faults. I love you family!
Remember how I said I would share their daughter soon? Well here she is. Isn’t she adorable? She is a few days younger than my little girl that is 2 1/2. Let me tell you I LOVE THIS AGE!!! They are so silly and sweet. I wish I could freeze my daughter at this age. Madi was SO excited to get pictures taken. In fact we tried to walk to a new location and she thought we were done… she started getting mad..” NOO WANNA TAKE A PICTURE”. It was soo cute. I don’t think I have ever had a child subject WANT to get their photo taken like she did. I <3 her. So Pure and innocent. Did I also mention that I am LOVING getting back to shooting! It makes my HEART happy!

This weeks theme over at PROJECT 52 was Stranger. We had to take a photo of a complete stranger. This was a GREAT assignment for me. You see, I am shy and not very brave when it comes to people I don’t know. I know I know.. I photograph strangers a lot, but the difference is, is that I have emailed or spoke on the phone with my clients. On one of the most beautiful days we have had in a while I talked my neighbor who is not so shy into taking a walk with me and the kids and find a stranger. We headed out and almost immediately found a subject I wanted to photograph…. wasn’t brave enough to ask. Not even a minute later much better stranger…. asked…NO NO NO she said because of her wrinkles. These wrinkles were AMAZING… so timeless. Oh how I wish I could have photographed her. As we kept walking I stopped to do some Macrolicious fun. My daughter fell down and this Japanese lady came out screaming at us telling us “DON’T TOUCH MY HOUSE” ” GO ON GET OUT OF HERE” ” BUNCH OF JAPANESE WORDS”. funny thing is.. we weren’t touching her house, just walking past on the sidewalk. That was interesting to say the least. Moving on…. got shot down a couple more times and then this gentleman ALMOST declined, I finally got him to agree. I don’t know his story, but it looks like he has had better days. I wasn’t sure if this was THE photo I wanted to use so we continued on. At the end of our journey was a cute little bakery with the sweetest ladies there. Yep I got a photo of one. They even gave the kids free Japanese donuts. The kids felt so special and we thought it was pretty cool too. Well as it turns out the gentleman’s photo WAS THE photo I felt had a wonderful story behind those eyes. For fun enjoy a few other shots from our journey!

There is a story behind those eyes!

This week we were supposed to take a black and white photo of something that represents ourselves, WITHOUT people in it. I thought and thought and thought and soon got sidetracked. At the last minute last night I remembered and went through several ideas, but either couldn’t do it in the dark or the house or just couldn’t get it to look right. Now I love my family , that’s obvious so I didn’t incorporate that in this week. I did however photograph 2 things I cannot live without : my camera and diet coke! <3

This little family is one of my favorite clients. They have great ideas for their shoots and they are just gorgeous! They are way too fun. This session was was pretty chilly and it was raining, but we braved through it all to get some awesome shots. We spent most all of the session playing in the rain and puddles.

After 7 long months he ( my wonderful hubby) is FINALLY home! He arrived last week and we have been enjoying our time with him. My kids were beyond excited to see him. The kids and I were up at midnight to get ready and be to the pick up station by 3a.m. After waiting there for an hour and a half we got news it would still be another 2 1/2 hours before the buses arrived with our heroes!

We saw the motorcycles bringing up the front and shorty after we saw our heroes marching in. All the kids were jumping with excitement, the spouses with butterflies in their stomachs as all these men and women marched past. Each spouse searching in the sea of soldiers for their loved one. Everything stops and is at a stand still….. “DISMISSED” shouted the Captain! The soldiers and the families just ran through the crowds to find their husband, father, mother, wife, and friends. Tears were rolling, smiles were abundant, laughter was heard! Fathers were able to meet their new babies that were born while defending our country. It is such a surreal moment when you finally see the one you have longed for, for 7 months.

We are so blessed that our loved one came home safe to us!

P.S. Excuse the poor quality photos, we had to shoot with a little, dumb point and shoot digital camera!

It’s been a while since I last posted hasn’t it… my how time flies! I feel like since my little Conrad came my head hasn’t stopped spinning. The days are flying by so fast. Now I’m not complaining because my DH will be home VERY soon! On the other hand I am sad because that means my little man is growing up so fast. He is getting bigger and bigger everyday and changing so much each day. He is starting to show more personality. He is a very cuddly little guy and loves his mama! It’s crazy because these photos of my little C look just like his big brother at the exact same age. I can’t get my scanner to work tonight, but I will be posting side by sides of the two hopefully tomorrow when I get some time to figure it out.( yes I said scanner, photos on CD weren’t available 6 years ago to buy). For now enjoy my handsome little man!

P.S. He’s crying because the lawn maintenance started the big ol lawn mower and scared him
